a leading American architect, designer of some of the earliest high-rise buildings in America, including the Auditorium building in Chicago; developed a personal style of organically-inspired ornamentation; had a great influence on Frank Lloyd Wright, who worked in the offices of Adler and Sullivan from1888 to 1893. Wright regarded Sullivan as his "Dear Master" throughout his life.
